点评:Second visit in 5 years.
Thoroughly enjoyed walking around and through the entire museum. There's a lot of ground to cover and they do let you walk around the whole place. Watch your step.
There wasnt a train ride scheduled.
We spent a couple hours w one of the track crew in the engine shop who had answers for most of my questions. All the different valves on a steam engine and the way they interact. The differences in the plumbing between the different engines. The parts involved..details
Fascinating amount of railroad history on display. A steam engine stripped down to its bones for inspection and rebuild. All the parts laid out.. like seeing open heart surgery.. new metal being welded into the firebox..
The machine shop itself is a museum. No NC equipment here. All manual.
They have some things I've never seen anywhere else.
We grove 250 miles to see it again after 5 years. We'll likely be back.
