Beautiful Feature to Tettegouche State Park
Baptism River的点评
点评：For me, the time I spent on Minnesota's North Shore was the best of my visit to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, and the highlight of the North Shore was Tettegouche State Park. For me the thing that puts Tettegouche a shad ahead of Gooseberry Falls is the Baptism River.
Like so much of the North Shore beauty, it is rivers draining the Boundary Waters over an undulating topography that creates waterfalls and canyons. In Tettegouce, you are blessed with the High Falls of the Baptism River and the canyon mouth that empties into Lake Superior. It is also the water that provides for some of the thickest most verdant foliage. Walking the trails here felt like you had an extra dose of oxygen with all the plants. The beauty of the lush forest along the Baptism is just another reason to love this area.
I hiked the from the bridge to above High Falls and then all the way to the mouth and back to the bridge, in total about 3.3 miles and 500 vertical feet. The highlight is probably the High Falls that were as powerful as any I saw in Minnesota. However, the hairpin canyon below the bridge to the mouth at the lake was also beautiful. Walking the pebble beach was fun and I saw dozens of crawfish. I will say they did not like the cold lake water, but they were climbing all over the pebble beach.
There are great things to see in the upper Midwest but be sure to see the North Shore of Lake Superior. It is impressive and one of its most beautiful natural assets is the Baptism River. Be sure to come here and hike.
