点评:Saddest trip we have ever taken as a couple. Hurricane Helene tore this town up over a year ago, and we visited last week and only three stores are open. This place is still in mass destruction state and from what we can see, it will be that way for a very long time. The day we were there, they were removing HUGE boulders from the entrance to Chimney Rock. We could not get up to Chimney Rock itself as this day it was closed to guests. The roads and bridges are fixed. The beach is dry and full of tall grasses. The offshoots of the lake are dry and untouched - boats are flipped over and it appears no one has even been there - it looks like a ghost town. We got to talk to some young Amish girls who are there to work - paint and build. There are also some young Amish men there. They come from Lancaster, PA by bus. A group will come once a week then go home and another group will come to replace them. They are wonderful and are very good workers and helpers. God Bless everyone involved in bringing this once beautiful town back to life.
