点评:Located on enclosed Union Lake, that is connected by locks to Puget Sound, the Center for Wooden Boats is a magical inter-active enclave of vintage, wood, rowing an sailing craft. The day I was there the water was like glass making a perfect day for capturing reflected images of old time water craft.
But you can do more than just look or photograph here. You can rent boats or learn to sail.
The staff here are the friendliest I have encountered anywhere. Staff members took substantial time from their day to show me around and explain different aspects of the operation.
In addition to boats on display dockside, there are two workshops where boats are restored or repaired. Staff was happy to show me the operations of these facilities.
Oh, did I mention that admission is free? But please give a donation after your tour to help keep this magnificent operation going. Or give by renting a boat and spending a leisurely hour on the water.
I took probably 200 photographs of the Center for Wooden Boats. It is just that magnificent.
Additionally, if I can arrange it as an ex-pat, I hope to volunteer some of my time to this organization on a trip to Seattle next summer. I think I must have been impressed by it.
