点评:This was the second time I’d visited this incredible place! Having already managed to purchase the burgundy shirt, I was determined to get the blue one! Walking around Corfu, wearing a polo shirt, which boasts “Palaia”
(Oldest, in Greek language, I believe) so very apt for me (😂)
but also gains one a genuine nod of respect from the locals, who are so justly proud of being home to the oldest philharmonic in Greece! On wearing the Burgundy version, I was approached for brief chat with a member of Vienna philharmonic orchestra!
The museum itself is beautifully laid out. The history fascinating and the lady who runs it, a great source of information, lovely too. They don’t charge for entry but donations very welcome. As someone who was classically trained, as a child, I adore music and being afforded the opportunity to see the manuscripts so close up was a joy! The array of musical instruments, I was transfixed. I spent a long time, lingering over detail, both original scores and biographical facts…
An absolute motivator to brave the crowds, in Corfu town, secreted down a side street- I’d recommend checking cruise ship schedules as the town becomes populated with hordes from around 10.30 am, most days. This was our only stop , from hotel, in central Corfu on that day, but it was a privilege I’d highly recommend!
