Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center的点评
点评：Westcave is such a beautiful way to enjoy nature in all its forms and beauty. The lush greenery and the natural shade provided by the canopy of trees made our outside adventure possible in mid July. I booked a guided tour for myself and my two daughters, ages 10 and 12.
If you are new to hiking, or a beginner such as myself, I highly recommend borrowing one of their hiking poles for additional stability on the steep inclines, as there are no handrails. The hike was difficult but pleasant, but in fairness I haven’t seen a gym in quite some time, so my legs were fatigued by the end of the hike. I also needed to pause a few times to catch my breath, which was totally fine because you can hike out at your own pace.
As for my girls…they handled the hike like champions!
Now for the beauty…my goodness, THE BEAUTY!! With so many shades of green and lush fauna, it looked like a snapshot of Ireland! Our expert guide was able to identify and provide so many fun details about the various plants and trees we observed along the way. Like the super soft, velvety leaves of a plant known as “Cowboy toilet paper.” We also got to see firsthand and learn how to precisely identify Poison Ivy, along with other native plants we may see out in the wild.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND visiting Westcave if you’re in the area. This was truly a memorable experience for which I am so grateful for! The entire staff is so dedicated to to the mission of preservation and they couldn’t have been more sweet!
