点评:My wife and I visited this museum on Memorial Day 2026 and were greeted by a helpful gentleman at the front desk who explained the museum's layout and the best way to explore the exhibits. There are two floors of exhibits, with the upstairs home to recreations of a general store, saloon, movie theater and the restrooms. Downstairs explains the who/what/where/why/how of the Erie Canal and there are several interactive exhibits to assist you in understanding how boats moved through locks and were weighed so they could be assessed the proper tolls. There is a also a replica canal boat to explore. It took us about 2 hours to go through the museum; however, if you do not read every exhibit panel you could probably be finished in about an hour. We followed the directions on the museum's website to park across the street under the highway overpass (entrance on James Street) which was free. Highly recommend the museum if you are interested in the Erie Canal.
