点评:Limeuil is only a tiny town but it’s officially on Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (Most Beautiful French Villages) list which makes it worth a visit if you’re in the area. Sitting at the point where the Vézère and Dordogne Rivers meet, it’s a charming little town, built on a steep slope.
The Mairie (Town Hall) is the best starting point for exploring Limeuil.
It sits in the lower section of the town, close to the rivers. Made of a honey-coloured stone, it is characteristic of Limeuil.
Initially we were looking for the Tourist Office, which is located at the Town Hall, but it was shut when we were there (and looked as if it may be permanently shut).
What we found instead was a small but lovely garden terrace out the front of the Town Hall.
You are free to wander through and it’s worth spending 10 minutes here because it has a balcony-like view down over the Vézère and Dordogne Rivers, the small pebbly beach and both bridges.
The terrace is not to be confused with the much larger Jardins Panoramiques, Limeuil’s main attraction, which is located right at the top of the town and has a fee to enter.
From the Town Hall, we made our way up the very steep main street that leads through Limeuil. The town is tiny enough that its only a short visit but it is very scenic and the views are worth the rather onerous climb up the cobbled streets.
