点评：Remember the climactic chase scene in the 1993 movie The Firm when Tom Cruise rides the monorail connecting Mud Island to downtown Memphis in a desperate attempt to evade his pursuers? Well, the monorail was suspended in 2018 and the Mississippi River Museum, another Mud Island site that was involved in Cruise's pursuit, closed in 2019. In fact, it once had an airport, which was shut down in 1970. And the 5,000-seat Mud Island Amphitheater, which once attracted Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and Peter Frampton, has gone unused since 2018. But there still is plenty to see. Mud Island is a peninsula in Memphis, bordered by the Mississippi River to the west, the Wolf River to the north and Wolf River Harbor to the east. The major features are Mud Island River Park and the Harbor Town residential neighborhood, which has a population of 14,548 and includes mansions, single-family homes, apartment complexes, hiking trails, ponds, a shopping district and a private school. Mud Island River Park opened in 1982. Located on the south end of the peninsula, it features bike trails, paddle boats, kayaks and a 2,000-foot-long hydraulic scale model of the lower Mississippi River from Cairo, Illinois, to New Orleans. The model includes plaques with details about the river's history. Visitors can take a lunch or dinner break at one of three restaurants in the River Inn of Harbor Town -- Paulette's, Tug's Casual Grill or Terrace at the River Inn. Try the BBQ cheddar smash burger at Tug's.
