Sawtooth river loop: fewer crowds, rougher trails

点评：Sawtooth Wilderness is heavily used in the summer especially lake basins close to Highway 75. We found some solitude hiking from Alturas Lake over Matingly Divide down steep trail into Middle Fork Boise then doing loop including Spangle-Ingeborg Lake basins, across head of Big Queens R, over pass into Pats and Arrowhead L., down badly burned Johnson Cr, over High Pass into Little Queens R., over old roads into mining town of Atlanta, then up Middle Fork to complete loop. Saw people on rivers and in lake basins but mostly solitude camping. Johnson Cr. & Little Queens very badly burned in Idaho City Fire 30 years ago with little trail repair or brushing.
