点评:6/18/26 We arrived at 2pm to the South Entrance. First we stopped at the Steel Visitor Center to watch the movie about the National Park. It was very informative- I recommend spending the 30 min watching that. The Ranger also explained why the lake is so blue ( it is because of the clean water and the sunlight). Then we drove to several viewpoints to the West since the East road was closed for construction. There was no snow on the roads. We hiked the Watchman Peak Trail. It is very steep but only took us 50 min to go up, look around and come down (1.6 miles roundtrip). There was still piles of snow along the trail so we had a snowball fight! Beautiful view of the lake from the top!
We continued to drive past the North Entrance to see how far we could get before the road was closed. There was hardly anyone on the North-East side of the park at the viewpoints. We were able to spot “ The Old Man of the Lake” which is a tree stump that has been floating around the lake since 1896. Only 4 feet of it is above water but we found it! We did not have time to visit the Rim Village area since they closed at 5pm.
