点评:We drove the Shafer trail from Canyonlands to Moab with sunny, perfect weather. The switchbacks were a bit scary because of the narrow road and hairpin turns. But, the crazy part was after reaching the White Rim Road junction. Immediately after turning left onto Shafer Trail, the road was in much worse condition. It had been more than a week since the area had received rain, but the road had been washed out from previous storms and been left with deep ruts, large exposed rocks, and major washboarding all the way beyond the Potash facility. Washes near the Potash ponds had shallow standing water and one had about a foot of standing water. We were in a high clearance 4WD vehicle so we did not have any problems getting through. We checked conditions at the Visitor Center and were told the road was good for a high clearance 2 WD vehicle. We enjoyed the scenery along the way and are glad we drove the trail, but wanted to share the experience so people will realize that this trip can be daunting in a 2 WD.
