Absolutely incredible place!
Ol Pejeta Conservancy的点评
点评：If anyone is looking for a safari camp with a difference, Ol' Pejeta is your place! I did one week on the ICE programme and learnt so much. It was a true once in a lifetime experience that I will treasure. The staff are incredibly friendly and you can tell they all truly care for what they do. This slice of heaven is working on projects that really are helping the planet and its inhabitants. The ICE programme gives you an insight to the hard work that goes on here, gives you a chance to help out and feel you are trying to do your bit.
Ol' Pejeta is living proof livestock and nature can live hand in hand and benefit each other incredibly. The staff are desperately trying to reverse the damage we have done to our planet. Beef cattle and the wild can live together and the world should adopt this project to prevent deforestation and extinction. It's easy to read online about animals becoming functionally extinct and totally extinct but to see it first hand is a different story. I came to Ol' Pejeta to try and help out somewhere and do my bit for the animals we have caused deviation to. I met the last two Northern White Rhinos, helped clean their bedrooms and shovel their poop and it was an absolute pleasure to do so. Seeing an animal with my own eyes on the brink of extinction because of poching is heartbreaking. The work Ol' Pejeta is trying to do for these two girls is mind-blowing and I wish to visit again and hopefully next time I come there are more than 2 NWR there.
Our guide was Tom and driver Patrick and they both made the experience incredible, I cannot thank them enough.
I'd also like to add they cater for dietary requirements amazingly, I am vegan and there was another vegan there as well plus my partner making 3 of us and the food was absolutely incredible, they managed to veganise traditional Kenyan dishes to give us a taste of their way of life, I will miss this food once home .
All in all Ol' Pejeta was just incredible, all animals we encountered were so healthy, well apart from the Zebra the Lions caught haha. We saw two different pride of lions, elephants everywhere, Zebras everywhere, Hyena, eagles, Pumbas, mongooses, Hippos, giraffes literally everything.
Solomon from Hippo Hide did our bush walk and the knowledge he has on animal tracking, plants, poop is awe inspiring, he could tell what animals were near us from their footstep sounds!!
The K9 dog unit was a pleasure to be with, the made tracing and tracking so much! We helped clean and groom the dogs and then I was hunted by them!
We did lion tracking and rhino monitoring and tracking and this was also incredible.
Without the staff here having so much pride in what they do I wouldn't have had a single idea of the work that goes in here, preserving nature and its inhabitants.
I will be back here and I cannot wait !
