点评:Apparently, no trip through the Great Plains is complete without a stop at the Corn Palace, or so their advertisements would have you believe. It's one of those places that you go to to stretch your legs, use the bathroom, marvel at the absolute kitsch of the attraction, and then head up the road. Be sure to explore the outside of the Palace, which is decorated with thousands of corn cobs in different colors. This year, the corn murals depict some of the wonders of the world, including the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids, the Grand Canyon, and the Statue of Liberty. It doesn’t look like much from far away, but zoom in with your camera and you can see the artistry that goes into the designs. Inside, there are exhibits on the history of the Corn Palace. There used to be several of them in the Midwest, but the one in Mitchell is the only remaining site. There is a big gift shop in the auditorium of the Palace, which is actively used as a performance venue. They have lots of corny, corn-themed merchandise. There is also a snack bar with, you guessed it, popcorn. Skip the cornballs in different flavors, as the one we got tasted stale and didn't taste very good, as if it had been sitting around for weeks.
