点评:Kitschy but Nostalgic and Fun! Apparently twice the number of people visit Wall Drug as they do the South Dakota national parks each year, maybe because the marketing for Wall Drug is so good. As you drive along the highway toward Wall Drug, you will see billboards every few minutes for miles and miles - I'm talking dozens upon dozens of billboards. This is a lot of fun to see. I can imagine that this is a relic from the days of yesteryear, akin to when people drove on route 66 and enjoyed the BurmaShave billboards decades ago. Anyway, Wall Drug is a covered shopping mall with a central interior corridor and shops on either side. At the back, there's an outdoor patio and then more buildings flanking the back of the patio. Inside, we found a photography exhibit and air conditioning. Wall Drug has a coffee shop (see photo) with food that I generally do not eat, like donuts and pies, but it does sell coffee for a nickel - sustaining the price from 1931 for a cup of joe. Stores sell all manner of knick-knacks. In the patio area, there are many opportunities for photos in front of a mini-Mount Rushmore or riding atop a fiberglass jackalope. We parked about a block away at a free lot. We walked through and got the general gist of the place in under an hour. Even though this place isn't really my lane, as they say, I am glad we went here, just for the nostalgia, on our national parks road trip.
