点评:We really enjoyed our visit to Prairie Creek, even though we didn’t spot any elk. We hiked the Cathedral Trees Trail to the Big Tree, and while it felt a bit long for us casual hikers, it was absolutely worth it. The trail is breathtaking—tall, quiet, and beautifully green.
Even though it was midday on a Tuesday in June, the trail wasn’t crowded. We passed other hikers here and there, but it still felt peaceful. The Big Tree area, on the other hand, was much busier. That’s where most of the tourists stop and line up for photos in front of the tree—which, to be fair, is pretty impressive at 266 feet tall and roughly 1,500 years old.
There's a nice little gift shop in the Visitor Center, and the rangers there are super helpful with directions and maps. Clean bathrooms as well. We were able to pull into the campground area to eat lunch at the picnic tables there.
