点评:Visited on the 17th for the day (staying at Salisbury) as haven't been to Weymouth for a few years. It was a hot day so the town was busy. We walked to the beach but were met by a mass of businesses taking up a lot of the prom and most of the top part of the beach. The narrow area of soft sand was taken up by cafes with decking, people on sun loungers, fair ground rides and kiosks selling everything under the sun. It was heaving with people and you couldn't find an inch of dry sand to sit on. We walked down the beach to get away from the noise and settled on the hard sand and shingle.
It wasn't how I remembered it - as a large beach with plenty of soft sand and room to find a comfy space to sit. We spent a few hours, but I didn't find it relaxing and didn't feel I could safely leave our bags while we went swimming, as the sea was out quite a way
As we drove back, we both said we probably wouldn't return and would stick to Bournemouth, as the beach is so much nicer, even though the sea is rougher and harder to swim in. It's such a shame as I've always liked Weymouth and have been many times in the past and as a child, but the beach is far too commercialised now.
