点评:Since this trail is always touted as "a must-do" at Big Bend, we prioritized it. My husband and I are 66 and 70, walk 5-6 miles every day, and prepped for the 1100 ft elevation climb by walking over picnic tables (in flat Florida!) on our walks. Let's just say that by halfway up I had nick-named it "Lost Your Mind" Trail. We have nothing but wonderful memories of our trek, however, and the scenery is as spectacular as everyone raves. But - it is challenging. It took us 3 hrs to get up (compared to 1.5 running back down), mainly because we stopped to oxygenate our hearts at several of the scenic benches along the way and got into fabulous conversations with other hikers who stopped for a break, too. Just remember that the oxygen level at 6000-7000 ft is thinner, and if you're from a sea-level town like us, give yourself permission to enjoy these scenic stopping spots that are great for taking pictures and creating memories and you'll be fine. P.S. We also went later in the morning after check-out and found parking spots after the early risers had made their way back down. There's also a smaller second parking lot further down around the bend.
