Fantastic presidential estate
Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums的点评
点评：President Rutherford B Hayes’ museum and estate is so worth a visit. It is situated in Fremont, Ohio, on a park and probably one of the only historic draws to the area other than their agricultural scene. Parking is free.
And because it is in a park, you’ll see a lot of joggers and people with their dogs going about the property.
Start at the visitor center/museum and get your tickets for your tour of the estate. There is a handicap entrance to the visitor center/museum. It is handicap accessible all throughout the museum as well with ramps and little open air elevators.
There is also a gift shop as you enter and restrooms throughout. Also, there’s a character actor o of the president that walks around and talks to people which was really cool in the museum.
When it’s time to take your tour of the estate mansion you are to meet your docent over on the porch of the house. You can take photos inside, but no flash photography. Most all of the artifacts and decorations and furniture are original to the president and there are some reproductions. They will also take you a tour upstairs so you will have to navigate steps. There are chairs with blue cushions throughout that you are permitted to sit on if you need to. Also, upstairs there’s a whole wing, which is actually outfitted in the 1960s fashion as it was renovated in the 60s of the ancestors that lived in the house, but the rest of the house is appointed in the 1800s.
Don’t mess President Hayes gun room in the museum as well as some really cool furniture made of antlers that are pointed out by the docent.
