While on a golf trip to Radium & Invermere our group of 8 booked the above course for a round of golf.
We golf with two groups of four.
The cost was approx $160.00 per person so $1280.00 for golf & say another $80.00 for beverages & food. So say $1920.00 ish for the golfing that day.
We understand that’s what it costs as the say, when in BC ( bring cash)
The starter was excellent they explained the course & the tee off times 10 min apart no issue for us as we golf daily.
So they gave a course run time of approx 4:15 min. We thought that was a bit tight but no real issues until we ran into a very misinformed course marshal on the back nine. This person informed us the group behind us had called the club house to say we were slowing the pace. Which was part of our group of eight. So this person asked us to skip hole 12. To catch up to a very slow group in front of us which then really slowed the pace. I phoned the club house after I talked to the group behind us,which they said nothing about the pace to anyone.
So I told the club house what happened they said they received no such call.
Any way this left a very bad impression of the rest of our game.
The problem I see with the above incident is the below following
1. The course has many levels of players so a 4:15 pace is a tough pace to follow.
2. The GPS on the course golf cart has a timer built in so give you an idea to speed up or slow down. But with a lot of the course being down for access with golf carts you have to walk allot.
3. The quick meal between holes nine & ten & the BC thing does not give you much of a break to enjoy the game & hydrate & what not.
We know that rates & costs have went up & the course has to make money by pumping people through it. But when does it get to the point when the paying customers will not enjoy it ? & hence never come back to one of the top rated courses in Canada ?
I have golfed Grey Wolf many times & love the course. But now with the economy I feel we are getting gouged a-bit.
We understand it takes money to run an operation but what’s the breaking point for the average golfer ?
