点评:This is without question one of the most spectacularly scenic drives in the US, and not to be missed if you're traveling in Utah canyon country. From Red Canyon to Torrey, there's amazing scenery everywhere that can be seen right the road or from pullouts and overlooks. Don't miss Red Canyon, Powell Point Overlook, Head of the Rocks Overlook, Boynton Overlook, and several overlooks along the shoulder of Boulder Mountain, and more. There's also the "Hogback" just south of the tiny town of Boulder, where the road travels right along a curving ridgetop with no shoulders and steep dropoffs on both sides. If you're driving, be sure to watch the road and not the scenery along that stretch!
I've always driven this road from west to east, and I believe that this is the best way to experience it. It's a short enough route that you can easily drive it in an afternoon though you may want to take it slower and take a full day or more, especially if you plan side trips along the way such as to Bryce Canyon or the sights along Hole-in-the-rock Road. Be sure to make a stop at the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument visitor center in the town of Escalante. Driving Highway 12 is an absolute must in this part of Utah.
