点评:The interpretive center is open only Thursday through Monday. No worries - the bathrooms are open, and pretty much everything you might want to see is still open for viewing on other days (we came on a Wednesday). The main site is right along the Columbia River - plenty of petrified wood logs to be admired. Don't miss the wall of petroglyphs that has been created adjacent to the building - these were relocated when the Wanapum Reservoir was created and would flood out their original locations. It's not as spectacular as seeing them in their original settings, but at least they're not under water.
Several miles up the road (Vantage Highway), there's a roadside stop "Trees of Stone Interpretive Trailhead" associated with the park. There's a building with a "trailside museum" to be viewed, then take the trail to see petrified logs in their original locations. Each has been covered by a constructed cage to prevent vandalism, but it's an interesting trail to take as long as it's not too hot the day you visit (there's no shade on these hills).
