Beware of dog attacks - rules not enforced. Pit Bull almost killed our Dog

点评：My wife was taking our 20 lb Jack Russel / Shih Tzu mix for a walk while I was setting up our camper on July 20, 2024 when an improperly tethered pit bull ran out and attacked our dog, nearly killing him. It took four grown men jumping on the dog and hitting it with logs to get him to release our dog, and a nurse also camping near the scene of the attack to prevent our dog from bleeding out. Our dog spent six hours at the local emergency animal hospital that evening, and required an additional surgery a few days later to install five drain tubes due to the infection from the pit bull attack. The pit bull owner fled the scene with his dog before the police arrived, and in spite of one of the men who saved our dog getting bit by the pit bull, the owner received no charges or penalties. In spite of every person at the scene providing statements, the official ODNR report merely states that they responded to a dog fight. It was no fight. It was a bloody attack, and the pit bull owner is free to return to the campground any time and let his pit bull roam. We will never camp here again because of their lack of enforcement of their dog regulations. The next time there might not be as many helpful people to save the next victim, and it could very well be a small child next time.
