点评:Located on Oxford Road, directly opposite University Place and the University of Manchester, Manchester Museum is an impressive red-brick building that is well worth a visit.
As you enter, you’ll find a gift shop and a café before exploring the museum’s three floors of exhibits. On the ground floor there is currently a special exhibition, Human Nature, which requires a timed booking. This can easily be arranged on arrival by scanning the QR code provided.
The top floor showcases the ethnography collections, while the Vivarium is a real highlight, housing a fascinating range of live reptiles and amphibians. Seeing the vibrant, colourful frogs and chameleons up close was the standout part of my visit. The museum’s Vivarium is renowned for its conservation work and is unusual in featuring live animals within a museum setting. (Manchester Museum)
The lower floors feature extensive natural history displays alongside an outstanding collection of Egyptian artefacts, offering something to interest visitors of all ages.
Overall, Manchester Museum provides an excellent combination of ethnography, Egyptology and natural history in a modern, well-laid-out space. Best of all, admission is free, making it one of Manchester’s top attractions. I would highly recommend allowing at least two to three hours to explore everything the museum has to offer
