点评：Visiting Down House was one of the most inspiring experiences of my career as an evolutionary biologist. Standing in Darwin's study, where he developed many of the ideas that transformed our understanding of life on Earth, felt almost surreal. The house is beautifully preserved and provides fascinating insight into both his scientific work and family life. The exhibits do an excellent job of explaining how observations made in and around the property contributed to the development of evolutionary theory, making complex scientific concepts accessible without oversimplifying them.
The highlight for me was walking the Sandwalk, Darwin's 'thinking path', and exploring the gardens where he conducted many of his experiments. It's remarkable to see how much ground-breaking science emerged from careful observation and simple but ingenious studies. Whether you're a scientist, a student, or simply curious about the history of ideas, Down House offers a unique opportunity to connect with one of the most influential figures in biology. I left feeling both humbled and motivated by Darwin's dedication to evidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Hopefully, my partner did too!
