Ape Cave Lava Tubes的点评
点评：There is an easier lava tube hike and a more difficult one. We did the easier one. I highly recommend it. The Lower tube was ~3/4 of a mile. It’s cool. 42 degrees to be exact. It’s damp too. Definitely dress of damp cool weather. I recommend hiking boots because the surface is damp, rocky & uneven. I also recommend renting the lanterns at the entrance. They’re excellent and have various levels of brightness which you can adjust on your own.
This is a worthwhile adventure. The story of the discovery of the lava tube is interesting. The entrance to the cave is beautiful.
The inside of the tube is fascinating. It was fun to see the inside of these magma tubes in the context of having spent the previous few days hiking to viewpoints of Mt St Helens and Mt Adams.
Although we didn’t go with kids, I think this would be fun for kids 5 & older.
You have to go online and purchase a $2 timed ticket for your car. Do that at least a day in advance.
