点评:This is probably one of the hardest hikes I have ever done. If you are not experienced, read the guides and tips, train and most importantly, if coming from sea level, spend a few days in the area first to adjust to the altitude. I spent three nights in Estes Park and got dizzy at around 4,000 m.
I arrived before 2 AM and the parking lot was almost full. The hike is long and with some Class 3 scrambling. There is no water until the campsite but you need purifiers.
Many people are ill prepared for this hike and many don’t succeed. My advice is that there is no shame in turning back. If you are really tired by the time you reach the Keyhole, turn back as it gets harder, and you want to clear the tree line before regular afternoon storms come (almost every day).
Overall it’s a great hike but also very hard, at least for me. Train hard, do your research and check the weather before deciding.
