Beautiful Texas beach

点评：When we visited this beach, we had it nearly all to ourselves. It is wonderful that we could stay as long as we wanted without having to worry about closing time. We left shortly after sunset because the mosquitos came out in full force, but if we had had insect repellent, we would have been happy to stay longer. There are great bathrooms and a covered picnic area and observation deck near the visitor’s center. A long boardwalk leads over the dunes down to the beach.
The water was wonderful with waves to play in. There were quite a lot of jellyfish around during our visit. They are certainly pretty. One local that I talked to told us that Portuguese man of war are common at this beach as well. Fortunately, nobody in our group got stung.
Be prepared for a long drive out of town to get to this beach. Bring snacks, extra water, and sunscreen with you. It feels remote, but it is absolutely worth it.
