Chahinkapa Zoo的点评
点评：Fantastic zoo. If you are within 2 hours of here, make the drive - you will be glad you did.
It is a smaller zoo i.e. much smaller than big city zoos like the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita or the Detroit Zoo. As a result though, for many of the exhibits, you can get fairly close to the animals. And it is clear they do a good job enriching the animals' lives and caring for them. I would say the most notable exception is the bear habitat - much too small for those two giants.
Kids enjoyed walking into the tortoise town and being able to "pet" the turtles. The highlight was seeing the zookeepers do enrichment/training and a check-up on Tal the orangutan, during which he blew a musical instrument! Other animals we enjoyed seeing - cougar, rhino, zebras, river otters (very active), cheetahs, tigers, lemurs, gibbons, snow leopards, eagles, alligator, and an animal we had never heard of - fossa. And of course, the farm animals were a hit.
