The USA holy ground of T&F

点评：I was here for all 10 days of the World Track and Field Championships as a spectator. Arguably a trip of a lifetime. First time I've been here, but the facility had a major makeover in the last 2+ yrs.
It is easily a world class arena for T&F. Seats are comfy, adequate legroom (and I was recoverying from knee surgery).
My review is of the stadium itself, and not the 5-star event of the WTFC.
Pretty hard to find a bad seat in the place (at least for the permanent seating) as I was all around the stadium for the 10 days. Your preferred location will depend on how you want to watch T&F.
Why isn't it 5-stars then?
First of all, for anybody that's on a restrictive diet like myself; it was very hard to find something I could eat. We were not allowed to bring ANY food or beverage (including water!) into the stadium. I went to all of the eating places inside the stadium and on the grounds inside the entry area.
Second of all, and this is the big thing, there is no cold water in the stadium. We were told to bring a refillable water bottle, which virtually everybody did. However, the water from the fountains was room temperature, not cold, or even really cool. The coldest water fountains were inside the stadium, not the entry area (section 213 had the coolest water), but it only hydrated you and did not quench your thirst.
I had no problem with the high prices that were being charged as I understand the economics of the event. However, the only way to get COLD water, was to buy a souvenir cup with an iced drink (water is one of the drinks) for $7.50. I'm not paying $7.50 for a 24 oz of cold water.
Remember, the sun can be quite oppressive in July or August. The shady side if the East side in the morning and the West side in the afternoon.
