Not a Real Tea Factory Anymore — Just Repackaging Imported Tea

点评：I visited the “Tea Factory” in October 2025 and unfortunately can confirm that it is no longer an operational tea manufacturing site.
According to staff, tea production stopped around two years ago after their drying machine broke down — and it has never been repaired or replaced. As a result, no local tea has been harvested or processed since then.
What remains is a small packaging workshop where they now repackage imported Ceylon tea under the “Seychelles Tea” label. It’s disappointing, as visitors are led to believe they’re seeing a working tea factory and buying locally made products — but that’s no longer the case.
The facility itself feels poorly maintained and outdated, with machinery from the 1960s that’s visibly unused. The steep, narrow access road adds to the impracticality — it’s hard to imagine any real transport of harvested tea happening here today.
It’s a shame, because the setting and the history could have been preserved as a small heritage site or demonstration factory. Instead, it now operates more like a display and a souvenir stop.
If you’re expecting to see genuine tea manufacturing or to buy authentic Seychelles-grown tea, you will be disappointed. Hopefully the management or local authorities will restore this beautiful place someday — it deserves better.
