点评：Our 2-hour walking history tour starting at La Fonda on the Plaza was truly one of the highlights of our trip—and a perfect activity while in town celebrating my history-buff daughter’s 30th birthday. It ended up being just the two of us on the tour, which made it feel incredibly special and personal.
Allen, our guide, was warm, personable, and deeply knowledgeable. What made this tour especially enjoyable was the easy, relaxed pace, with opportunities to sit at times, so it never felt rushed or tiring.
He brought Santa Fe’s story to life, starting with the rich history of La Fonda—its role over time and the beautiful art throughout the hotel—then seamlessly connecting it to the Old Santa Fe Trail, the significance of the Plaza, and the nearby Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.
Allen also helped us understand the architecture in a way we never would have on our own—pointing out distinctive homes, their hidden courtyards, and how design reflects the culture and history of the area. His storytelling made each stop feel meaningful and connected, weaving together both the fascinating history of the town and the details right in front of us.
We left with a deeper appreciation for Santa Fe—and such a memorable way to celebrate a milestone birthday. Highly recommend this tour, and if you can, ask for Allen.
