Very interesting, if a little rushed
Sunbury Plantation House的点评
点评：We wanted to visit Sunbury as it the only historic plantation house in Barbados where all the rooms are open to the public (albeit restored after a fire, with the contents being sourced from other houses from the same era). When we arrived at opening time, we were asked to wait for 15-minutes for a tour. Whilst not on the scale and grandeur of an English stately home, almost every inch of every room is crammed with artefacts - period furniture, paintings, sculptures, china, ornaments, toys, clothes, as well as eclectic collectibles (cameras and dental related pieces). The basement houses kitchen equipment, antique horse-drawn carriages, and farm equipment. Our guide was personable, and knowledgeable in answering any questions. The tour was interesting and insightful. The focus is on the daily life of a colonial plantation owner’s family, without any trace or mention of the slave workers. The tour lasted 40 minutes, not the advertised 1 hour, possibly rushed due to the rest of the group - a family with young children who kept splitting up and wandering off. We finished with a complimentary rum punch in the covered courtyard bar-restaurant. Nice clean toilets. The house isn’t really suited to large groups or children.
