Brunswick Town Hall的点评
点评：The streetscape of Brunswick speaks of diversity and creativity... there is something appealing about the area. The mix of old buildings with new, the crowded footpaths, the graffiti ... it blends together to create something that is uniquely Melbourne.
Whilst Brunswick was declared a municipality in 1857, it was not until 1908 that it became a city. The Town Hall is an imposing Victorian building in the Second Empire style, built in 1876.
Second Empire style, also known as the Napoleon III style, is a highly eclectic style of architecture and decorative arts, which uses elements of many different historical styles, and also made innovative use of modern materials, such as iron frameworks and glass skylights.
Older buildings whisper to us about culture, history, and values of the past which makes this town hall an important part of this area. It's well worth stopping to look at it.
I was curious about when the clock was added because it seems to not fit with the design of the building, being that it's the most unattractive feature.
