点评:We tried to locate the Big Bottle Tree on two occasions, following the street signs etc, however failed miserably. We gave up - didn't get to see it at all. However, we did see the many majestic, mature bottle trees that lined several of Roma's main thoroughfares and these make a mighty impressive sight. And it is backed by a just as impressive story dating back to World War I, when the town council decided to plant an avenue of trees, to honour each of the town's fallen soldiers. They went for bottle trees because they were less likely to be ravaged by the feral goats that roamed the streets at the time. There had been times since when the trees had been neglected and died but in the last 20-30 years there has been a major effort at restoration and rededication, which is wonderful to see.
