Umbrellas not up year round, but still a lovely street!

点评：The umbrellas weren't up in January as the Christmas decorations were still out. We were sad not to find the colorful umbrellas, but the street itself was lovely. All the beautiful pastel buildings were picturesque. It was near the pigeon plaza too, so we enjoyed the birds. We had done research that said Old San Juan was a cab drive from the cruise port, but honestly we (family of five with kids ages 19, 22, and 24) walked through the city from the cruise port seeing different shops, streets, plazas, etc. until we reached the fort on the upper side. It was not hard to walk and we enjoyed the views along the way, stopping for photos or ducking into shops. After our walk, we ate lunch at La Verguenza for lunch on the roof and they truly had the best empanadas I've ever had and the drinks and steak churasco were fantastic too - just a short walk from Calle De La Fortaleza. Made for a nice day!
