点评:We wanted to do a traditional lunch and wine tasting close to our hotel and stumbled on this place. Having looked on trip advisor, we decided to book in for a lunch and tour at short notice! We were lucky to get it - I suggest booking a few days before.
The guy that runs the tour is quite a character, very entertaining and full of stories. Our experience included a lovely tour by him and his very vocal cat (queen cat) through his cellar - where we learned about his wine, olive oils and balsamic vinegar (getting to taste 2 of the former - delicious!)
The tour took about 20/30 mins
We then sat at tables with spectators views and enjoyed:
A taste of his beautiful “champagne” - aka Tuscan fizz - which was splendid, and 4 reds over the course of the meal - some Chianti, some merlot. Some very expensive!! My favorite was the merlot (number 5).
We also had delivered a plate of Tuscany local food (see photo) - all very fresh and beautiful!! Then scrambled eggs with truffle and his local pig pork, then proper lasagna and then tiramisu (i’m not sure this is always included- there was a cooking class the day before) and then ice cream with his balsamic vinegar on top (absolutely amazing!!).
Through out the meal, we learned lots about the history of the vines, wine making, the building, his mission in Kenya and his process not using sulfate (quite rare).
It was a lovely, relaxing couple of hours and very enjoyable!
Few things to note - because he only produces small amounts of wine - his prices are quite high compared to what we usually spend. These are high end products so probably to be expected.
