Cape Nelson lighthouse的点评
点评：About 13kms, about a 15 minutes, drive south west of Portand is the Cape Nelson Lighthouse. The tall red-capped stark white lighthouse is visible for a while prior to arriving at the large car park. Multiple buildings are adjacent to the lighthouse including varying accommodation options and Isabella’s Café – which unfortunately was closed on the day we there.
Isabella’s is housed in a bluestone building which used to be a store room and home to the generators that kept the whole complex alive. The two smaller attached properties were home to the lighthouse assistants and their families with the larger building being the lighthouse keeper’s home. The wooden building beyond the lighthouse is the signal hut. Tours are, I believe, are available – found this out later. There is limited signage available.
The views of the rugged and notorious coastline are stunning and dictate the reason why the lighthouse was built here.
Well worth a visit to view this quite historic site and take in the views.
