点评：We wanted to spend some time in Mykines at our own leisure, unrushed by a bus schedule or a running meter in a waiting taxi. I figured that a driver from Mykines is a right person to take us to Mykines, and that's how we met Kosta. My wife and I were captivated by his storytelling on the road. Kostas speaks excellent English, is friendly and courteous, and extremely knowledgeable about Greek history, archaeology and topography from the earlier times, bronze and classical ages, Roman, Byzantine, Frankish, Venetian, Ottoman periods to the Greek Independence and modern era. And I mean "Harvard would be proud to have him as a member of faculty" level.
Our original plan was to check the roads and traffic from a taxi and rent a car later, but we changed our minds after a short drive with Kosta to Mykines and back. As another reviewer put it, he is not just "an excellent driver but an even better Greek ambassador". Whatever your previous knowledge and experience of the region, Kostas fills you in on the interesting stuff. He recommends the best places to eat in each town and particular dishes, interesting places to visit, churches, beaches, can tell you about local life, customs, culture, agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, and all this helps you to enjoy your stay 400% more.
The second tour I asked Kosta to take us to several archaeological sites and back. He figured the best route on the spot (you computer science people already know this as an instance of NP-hard Travelling Salesman Problem) and took us to Kazarma, Epidavros, Heraion of Argos, Midea, Dendra, pyramid at Elliniko, and back home. He patiently waited for us at each of the sites, and pointed out other points of interest along the way.
Our third third tour took us to the Athens airport. Arriving at the airport on time and well rested, before the inevitable delays and cramped legs, is in itself worth it, but we also stopped in Corinth, Acrocorinth, Isthmia and the canal.
My three best days in Greece where with Kosta. He can take you from anywhere to wherever you want. Others already pointed out that he is an experienced, professional driver and his chariot arrived every time spotlessly clean inside and outside, and reviewers also mentioned that either a short or long drive with him was one of their highlights in Greece. Same for us. 10/10 well worth it even he drove a Soviet VAZ Zhiguli, instead of his top of the line, luxurious Mercedes.
