Disappointing based on expectation

点评：We arrived early and were thrilled to bag a seat with a view. The waitress was pleasant and really encouraging about the menu.
We ordered fish pie from the blackboard, and fish n chips. Neither were great when they arrived. In fact the twice fried chips were disgusting. They tasted secondary fried from yesterday. The waitress said potatoes were fresh and prepared each day. Difficult to believe her, based on the taste and sogginess, as served. The fish was small, but okay. Definitely not up to the standard of most "chippys". The fish pie was overwhelmed with watery sauce, and few fish chunks to be found. Expensive disappointment.
Maybe if you don't cook yourself, and enjoy mediocre food as nicely presented here, you'd be content.
This was a nice looking pub that promised more than it served. As we left we crossed paths with many coach party potential patrons that were intent on closing in on the pub. Maybe they were happy with the food as their tour managers must have been.
Such a shame. We did not enjoy our holiday day out lunch as anticipated.
