Come for the sea turtles and water, not the beach itself

点评：Brewers Bay is a great spot if you’re hoping to see sea turtles — bring a snorkel, look around in the seagrass areas, and you’re almost guaranteed to bump into some! We saw them popping their little heads up for air and grazing on the bottom. The calm, clear water is gorgeous and makes it worth the visit.
The beach itself isn’t particularly stunning — the sand is mixed with shells and grass at first, and the grassy, tree-lined area before the sand is more functional than beautiful. But as you move closer to the water, the sand becomes smoother, and the setting feels more peaceful.
The beach is close to the university and easy to find. Parking is along the busy street out front, which can feel a little hectic. There’s room to park on the shoulder, but note that on the driver’s side there’s a shallow ditch for water runoff between the parking area and the sidewalk, which can make getting out a little tricky. A sidewalk runs along the road, and there are stairs (and what looks like a ramp) down to the beach, though the beach itself could still be challenging to navigate for someone with mobility issues.
The first few feet of water have lots of shells, then it turns to soft sand and seagrass farther out. We enjoyed watching sailboats anchored just offshore and seeing the turtles come up for air.
We’ve heard the sunsets here can be beautiful, but when we visited the sun dipped behind the mountains, so it was nice but not breathtaking.
If you’re looking for a picture-perfect beach, this may not be it, but if you want calm water, wildlife, and a relaxing snorkel, it’s definitely worth a stop.
