Very interesting tour and fun rummaging in the shop for bargains

点评：We arrived early for the tour and spent over an hour happily rummaging in the shop, which is full of slight seconds and over-makes of custom orders at hugely discounted prices. There are perhaps 100 shelves and bins full of mixed miscellaneous items with minimal organisation or labelling, which you could either view as a waste of time or (as we did) part of the fun. We still have no idea what some of the items were. Do not expect to find any of the retail items you see on the web site. We came away with 15 non-matching damask napkins and a tablecloth at less than a quarter of retail price, less than cotton equivalents from John Lewis.
The tour itself was informal, and took less than an hour with just 4 of us. Nigel has been working there since he was 17 (40+ years ago) so there is little he doesn't know either about linen or the history of the three companies that now trade under the same roof. My favourite part was seeing the looms in operation, including a brand new £1 million jacquard loom with over 4000 individually computer-controlled warps.
