点评:Monday 16th June 2025, My husband and I decided to go to visit Trengwainton Gardens, Madron, near Penzance under the care of the National Trust.
Trengwainton is a unique garden, perhaps more favoured for the cultivation of exotic trees and shrubs than any other on mainland Britain. The walled garden in particular contains many species which cannot be grown in the open anywhere else in the country. It is an intimate and sensual garden closely linked to the stream which runs through its valley and packed cheek by jowl with wonderful colourful plants making it a pleasure to look at and walk beside. The garden leads up to a fine terrace with white-painted summer houses at each end with splendid views of Mount’s Bay and The Lizard.
I found inspiration here and I wrote two poems whilst sitting on a warm wooden bench in the lovely hot sunshine called ‘Of The Moment’ and ‘Millionairess’.
After walking round for over four hours my husband and I were in need of refreshments, so we went to the ‘The Conservatory’, and found a nice table outside in the sunshine where we indulged. my husband had a slice of ‘Orange’ cake and a nice chilled glass of lemonade. I had a slice of ‘Blueberry’ Bakewell tart and an iced latte coffee. We left when the gardens closed at 5.00 pm.
