点评:I stayed at Cinnamon Bay Campground for five nights in 2026. The setting is absolutely beautiful, but my first night in one of the eco-tents was extremely difficult because of the number of cockroaches inside.
After dark, I went into the tent, turned on the light, and found approximately five or six large cockroaches inside. I camp regularly in my own tent, but I’m admittedly very uncomfortable around cockroaches, especially when trying to sleep in an enclosed space.
After removing the ones I initially found, I stepped outside for a while. When I returned, there were another five or more on the tent walls. At that point, I realized I wasn’t going to be able to sleep there.
Around 11 PM, I found Joseph, one of the security guards driving around the campground. He was extremely helpful and recommended moving me into a cottage for the night. I ultimately paid the additional cost to stay in the cottage for the remainder of my trip.
Unfortunately, my interaction with the front desk the following morning was much less welcoming. I didn’t feel that my concern about the eco-tent was taken very seriously, and overall I found the front desk staff fairly cold during my stay.
The cottage itself was very nice considering there is no running water or air conditioning. It was quite hot at night, though. My travel thermometer showed approximately 84°F and 70% humidity. After two nights, I rented a fan, which made sleeping much more comfortable. The power went out on my final night, so unfortunately the fan wasn’t usable then.
Despite those issues, the beach and campground location were amazing and made the trip worthwhile. Having such a beautiful beach almost entirely to yourself during the mornings and evenings was incredible, and the island itself is spectacular.
The snorkeling directly in front of the campground was decent and extremely convenient. I found the best snorkeling around the small island roughly 100 yards offshore. It was an easy swim for me, and the east side had the most marine life, although the water could get somewhat choppy there.
I’m sharing my experience mainly as a heads-up for travelers who are especially uncomfortable with cockroaches. For some people, this may not be a major issue, but it significantly affected my experience in the eco-tent.
Would I stay here again? Possibly, but I would choose a bare campsite and bring my own tent. The location itself is fantastic, and Cinnamon Bay is an incredibly beautiful place.
