Lovely Memorial, See Only if You Have Extra Time
Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex的点评
点评:It was peaceful but like many of the monuments through Ashgabat, deserted. The Soviet style wall murial was confusing to an outsider. There were no explanations for what we were looking at. Our guide of course told us that it was a memorial to those lost in WWII and the 1948 Earthquake. He did explain symbology of the bull, globe, and infant. The memorial monuments themselves were thoughtful in their designs. The gardens were anything but lush. Most of the flowers planted around seemed to be those not made for hot desert climates. I'd think more hearty desert plants would be a better alternative to marigolds and roses that were withered and dried. It was something to do and see and took a bit of time to get to being that it's on the outskirts of town but I wouldn't go out of my way to venture here if schedule is tight.
