点评:At the end of the Ice Age, about 12,600 years ago, prehistoric artists painted these thousands of images of mastodons, giant sloths, tapirs, snakes, frogs, horses, fish, lizards, birds and other symbols, geometric patterns and human forms across eight miles of cliffs in Serranía de la Lindosa (Colombian Amazon). Predominately red due to the ocher found around here; these images were made by the first homo sapiens that inhabited the area.
Getting there took a little over 1 hour climbing 2,500m through rugged, rocky terrain from the end of the road. The local people we met were friendly, smiling and waving a lot. Sturdy footwear, long pants, a hat, bug spray and water are a must. On the way there and back we saw monkeys, many birds including a falcon and its nest. Once I could not make out the dark form and rustling through the trees, but later found out that there had been a jaguar sighted by the forest camera. This is a vital forest growth area full of dense vegetation, tropical trees, shrubs and many bromeliads. The actual site is very impressive with thousands of artistic depictions on four different sites. You must traverse a 210m cave in pitch darkness that is difficult to maneuver over many rocks and small spaces. After you reach the top vantage point and see the panoramic views, you realize the effort was well worth it, even if you now have to go back down.
