点评：So, I’ve just been to Capybara Land in Minami, where I thought I'd have my heart melted by Japan's cutest rodents – and I did! The capybaras were absolutely adorable, no arguments there. But…let’s talk about the “land” bit in “Capybara Land.” Think less Disneyland and more the size of a living room. An adorable, capybara-filled living room, but still.
I read somewhere that it used to cost 1000 yen (roughly £5 or $7) with a drink thrown in. A solid deal! But when we got there, we were met with the news: it’s now a whopping 5000 yen (£27 or $34) just to get through the door, drinks not included. So if you’re thinking of taking the kids to Capybara Land, maybe remortgage the house first.
After the hour-long trip from Yokohama including a 30-minute walk from Minami station (don’t skip leg day for this one), we finally arrived, only to find out we’d get a tiny pinch of capybara food with our entry ticket. If you want more, that’ll be another 600–1000 yen, please. Watch out – feeding these capybaras can get pricey fast. They’ll nibble that food right out of your hand and your wallet in no time.
The owner was quirky, though – a bit like if David Attenborough had a niche obsession with rodents. He was charming and passionate about his capybaras, so props for that.
