I was in the Burlington MA location today and had a very negative experience with the manager on duty regarding my membership. When I asked for a regional/district manager contact, I was refused.
I have had to put my membership on hold a handful of times throughout the years due to injuries or hospitalizations and encountered some issues with paperwork, but overall have always been happy with my massages and enjoyed my membership as a nurse with chronic back pain.
Last March (2022), I spoke with the previous branch manager due to a payment issue. I believe her name was Danielle. I had been hospitalized at the time due to Covid and she double charged my account to bring it current. I was reminded that I had many session in my bank. (I believe 15-18)
I then called sometime later in spring/summer to update to a different debit card.
Then in November I called again and spoke with the manager when I found that the auto debits had not been going through. Danielle noted that it was an error on the branch’s part and reinstated my membership with no hiccups because it was not a member error. She once again reminded me that I had many sessions in my bank.
I now recently have finally booked sessions and after a session today, asked how many were in my bank and was told only 3. The receptionist was very polite, but I knew a manager would likely need to look at the issue.
When I looked to rectify this with the manager, I was met with a particularly argumentative woman who was only able to give me limited data as she was telling me my long standing membership was cancelled and dissolved last March and she “couldn’t see anything.” The November charges were now a “new” membership and everything was lost, and she told me that whatever Danielle told me must not have been accurate.
She did, however tell me there were multiple calls to me to update card info, but no notations of any of the other information, which I found incomplete and frustrating.
I was interrupted multiple times when I tried to explain what had happened.
At this point I asked to speak to someone above her and was refused.
As a long time Massage Envy member, I was disheartened to be treated so poorly and to have an administrative error penalize this many sessions that represents approximately over $1,000 of services.
