La Quiete apartments, Pieve - really nice!

点评：We booked one of the 'La Quiete' apartments that are just above Pieve centre and have stunning views of the east side of Garda, including Malcesine.
The apartment was small but complete, with a patio with amazing views and a nearby pool. For some reason it seemed sheltered from winds elsewhere on the hill-side - a really nice place to spend the evening.
Pieve is exactly as you'd expect a village above Garda - pretty, pretty busy some times, plenty of eating options and great views. It's very up-and-down (expect to climb whilst anywhere near Garda) There's a route down to the water near the 'cable car' station (now just a lookout) for the truly brave.
Many Europeans enjoy Pieve, especially Germans. Not a bad thing as they usually know a good thing, but expect tourists moving in groups, smoking at adjacent tables and unyielding driving - this became a particular exasperation on the tight, twisty 4KM road that is now the quickest way in and out of Pieve from Limone - our central-European friends don't seem too familiar with single-track etiquette. As for the locals - I didn't know 'kamikaze' was Italian!
An upside is now the famous 'Strada Del Forra' the other side of Pieve is blocked to motor traffic - which means it can be walked and really enjoyed - a cool and beautiful grotto as much as a highway.
Limone is the nearest town/resort - go for the shaded high-street, water-side that facilitates swimming in the lake (nice!), plenty to eat and drink and a long walk along the cliff-face path out towards Riva that we'd wished we'd had time to try.
From Limone driving to Riva is easy (not a lot there tbh) and Malcesine - tho the ferry is a much nicer way. Driving around Garda can be slow progress.
High-season seems incredibly busy now - Limone is becoming a choke-point and parking is pot-luck - the temperature in mid-Aug never dipped below 32 in the day time - consider out of season as preferable.
