Well Worth the Visit
Big Bone Lick State Historic Site的点评
点评：We were looking for something to do on a Saturday, and since the historic site was only 10 miles from our house we thought we would give it a try. Very pleasantly surprised with what we found. A really nice place to spend a Spring day.
The visitor center is small but has a couple of very impressive pieces, including the skeleton of a giant sloth. Interesting information as well if you take the time to read the signage. It also has a small but very nice gift shop that also has bottled drinks and snacks.
Just past the visitor center is a paved trail (says it’s 0.2 miles but I think it’s about twice that, which you follow to a viewing area for the herd of American Bison. Definitely worth the walk. I got there at 3:30 and it was feeding time, so great views of the animals. You can either walk down to the fence or up to a nice viewing tower. The path to the Bison is a beautiful peaceful walk and we saw some deer along the way. There is a bench around the halfway point.
We drove through other parts of the park and it’s a beautiful spot. There is ample parking at the visitor center as well. Overall, it’s not huge, but everything is really nicely done. Truly enjoyed our visit and definitely will return.
